SATURDAY 24TH JUNE, 2017.
STIPENDARY STEWARDS: RICHARD HALFHIDE TYRONE KOWLESSAR WINSTON GOVIA
RACE 1 N I L
The Stewards noted that #4 CONSIDERITDONE, reared in the starting stalls at the off and almost unseated its rider, R. Ali.
The Stewards interviewed jockey J. Reyes, rider of #6 LOUISVILLE GAL, placed second, regarding his use of the whip in the race. The jockey admitted that he may have over used the whip in his effort to obtain the best placing. The Stewards cautioned jockey Reyes and advised him that any repetition would be severely dealt with.
RACE 3 N I L
The Stewards noted that #6 FILLYOURPOCKET, placed second, ridden by J. Boodramsingh jumped outwards at the start and took the ground of #7 FINAL NOTICE, unplaced, ridden by J. Bracho. On interview, the jockey admitted that his horse jumped to the right but he advised that he had little control at first jump. The Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental and did not ultimately affect the result and took no further action on the incident.
The Stewards noted that jockey A. Poon, rider of #5 SERENGETI, unplaced, appeared to have difficulty controlling his mount in the back straight and interviewed him in this connection. The rider explained that the horse appeared to have been rubbed with baby oil which compromised his grip particularly on the mane of the horse. The Official Veterinarian noted nothing untoward but was asked to check the horse. She subsequently reported that the groom admitted putting baby oil on the horse’s mane some three (3) days previously because of dryness. The trainer on interview appeared unaware of what transpired and afterward, also told the Stewards that the groom admitted applying the oil.
The Stewards interviewed the groom W. James and cautioned him that no foreign substances must be applied to a racing horse, in accordance with Rule 62 (1).
The Stewards noted that jockey O. Mohammed rider of #11 SPONTANEOUS lost his stirrups at the off and regained the irons after approximately 400 metres. On interview the jockey stated that the horse rubbed the gate on exit catching the stirrup. His explanation was noted.
Jockey J. Reyes, rider of #5 THE CANDIDATE, placed fourth, objected to #6 RHEA’S TOY SOLDIER, placed third, ridden by D. Butcher for foul riding out of the gates.
On viewing the video replay and having heard the riders’ evidence the Stewards noted that RHEA’S TOY SOLDIER veered inward on leaving the boxes and ultimately made contact with #2 BIRD MAN which was itself drifting outward. The Stewards noted that THE CANDIDATE was a step slow and RHEA’S TOY SOLDIER took the open space. Jockey Butcher admitted being slightly slow to straighten his mount but the Stewards found the incident to be accidental and took no action in the matter, allowing the placings to remain unchanged.
Trainer Chester Roberts was fined $200.00 for failing to properly oufit his charge #3 HELENA’ S PRIDE by not wearing declared equipment when leaving the saddling enclosure and delaying the start.
RACE 7 N I L
On the Starter’s recommendation, the Stewards ordered that horses #3 INTEGRITY must be re-schooled and re-certified before taking entry.
The Stewards noted that INTEGRITY fly jumped on leaving the starting stalls.
