NOTES FROM THE STEWARDS
SATURDAY 2ND DECEMBER, 2017.
STIPENDARY STEWARDS: TYRONE KOWLESSAR DAVID LOREGNARD RICHARD HALFHIDE
Prior to the race the Official Veterinarian advised that #2 EL CHAPO had a swelling on its neck. The trainer was advised and he agreed to race the horse. The Stewards ordered the horse to be routinely tested.
The Stewards were without the benefit of the home-stretch head-on camera for this race.
Trainer Michael Carew Jr. was fined $500.00 for failing to present #4 BRAVE VENTURE for lasix.
The Stewards noted that the saddle slipped forward, on #2 LORD SILVER. On interview jockey B. Boodramsingh stated that the horse jumped hard and fast and upon trying to restrain and control it, the saddle slipped forward.
The Stewards observed that #2 GEARSHIFT kept pulling its head throughout the race and raced erratically. Jockey N. Samaroo advised the Stewards that the bit was too tight which affected the horses’ performance.
RACE 4 N I L
The Starter reported that #1 MURANO refused to load and was withdrawn.
The Stewards noted that MURANO had failed to load on more than one occasion previously and after interviewing the trainer ordered that MURANO be suspended from racing and is not to race before 01.06.2018 as recommended by the Starter.
The Stewards noted that #4 WAR COUNCIL reared at the off and was very slowly away.
Jockey R. Balgobin rider of #1 MADIBA, unplaced, objected to jockey L. A. Seecharan rider of #3 ELECTRIFY, placed third, for foul riding when negotiating the first bend after leaving the gates.
After hearing the evidence of the jockeys and viewing the video replays, the Stewards noted that both horses raced tightly when negotiating the bend, with another horse on the outside of #3 ELECTRIFY. This limited #1 MADIBA’s racing room and forced the jockey to slightly check to control his mount. The incident was considered to be accidental and the Stewards saw no reason to take any action.
The Steward ordered the placings to remain unchanged.
Trainer Dr. Anthony Griffith was fined $50.00 for incorrect colours on #6 SCOTUS.
The Stewards noted that #5 WHISPER LIGHT stumbled badly upon leaving the gates.
The Stewards noted that #8 I’MMISSINGHIGHBURY was very slowly away and took no active part in the race.
The Official Veterinarian reported that #5 DROGBAR returned lame on the right fore (Grade 4).
